By exercising caution risk of any mishap can be reduced
Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Abu Dhabi has issued an advisory for Emirati citizens traveling abroad, urging them to exercise heightened caution due to a rise in theft incidents. This comes amidst reports of several Emirati travelers falling victim to theft in Spain, Georgia, Italy, United Kingdom. France and Austria.
The MoFA emphasizes the importance of travelers taking proactive steps to safeguard their belongings. This includes:
Traveling discreetly: Avoid displaying expensive jewelry, watches, or other valuables that might attract unwanted attention.
Secure storage: Store passports, travel documents, and other important items in a hotel safe or a secure money belt worn close to the body. Photocopies of these documents can be helpful in case of emergencies.
Booking with Reputable Companies: Minimize the risk of scams by using established international companies when booking hotels and rental vehicles.
Staying informed and connected: The MoFA advisory also reminds travelers to stay informed about the specific safety guidelines for their chosen destinations.
The Ministry maintains a dedicated "Emirati Traveler" page on its website and mobile app, offering up-to-date travel advisories and safety information for various countries.
Emergency Contact
For added peace of mind, the MoFA recommends Emirati travelers register with the "Tawajedi" service. This service allows UAE citizens abroad to connect with the nearest UAE embassy or consulate for assistance in case of emergencies or unexpected situations. Contact number: 0097180024.
